Nomadics - by Galerie Tristesse Deluxe

15. March 2012 - 19:00 - 22. March 2012 - 23:30

The experiences and impressions arising from the numerous cicumstancially imposed changes of the gallery space  have condensed over the years and evolved into the conceptual  nomadic state of Tristesse Deluxe today. This new series of group exhibitions explores  the travelling situation itself as an interface between new places and old networks, focussing on the artistic perception of space, time and motion, playing on the intersections and connections between interior and exterior world, the boundaries between real and virtual space, the entanglement of  existing and constructed world. It describes, re-enacts and discusses physical and psychological experiences between the visible and invisible.

The first exhibition of 2012 will take place in the week of 15.03 - 22.03.2012, presenting a program of various artists. It will include talks, music/video shows and discussions as well as a classical exhibition presenting videos, tableau paintings, objects and spacial installation.

The exhibitions of the platform Tristesse Deluxe will change every three to four months, prioritizing new aspects of the subject and delivering a variety of artists and participations, thus emphasising  the gestalt of a new form of nomadism : Artists are the nomads of today's society, restless, constantly leaving, arriving, taking possession of a city and abandoning it again. This new notion redefines the classical concept of the nomad, changing it from the rural wanderer into the modern urban "nomadic". The city nomad of today is a professional networker, constantly checking and seizing opportunities without making any commitments. Whilst this behaviour can be self-determined, happening out of the artist's choice, it can also be superimposed by other people and circumstances or  induced by the artists' the inner drive to move and change. Tristesse deluxe as a platform is fully part of this movement, its history and situation reflected in every individual story of the exhibiting artists.

As a conclusion at the end of each year, a documentation including conceptual statements, events, performances and press coverage will be produced in order to analyse the results and  form  the nomadic program of the platform into a comprehensible image.
