The Brunnenviertel between Startup-hype & social problems

31. May 2013 @ 17:00 - 19:00

free

Northern Brunnenstrasse, especially the part between Bernauer Strasse and Gesundbrunnen, currently faces enormous transitions: new tenants from all over the world move in and traditional businesses & retail shops shut down in favour of start-up studios and creative centers. After being hidden in the shadow zone of the former Berlin Wall, the Brunnenstraße turns from a “problem borough” into a center of attraction for startups, IT-hubs and other creative endeavours. Starting from the Factory, which is still in a phase of construction, moving on to the SUPERMARKT, up to the Technologiepark Humboldthain there are quite a number of ambitious projects along northern Brunnenstraße – and they will definitely change the characteristics of this part of the city.

During this workshop we want to get a better understanding of the changes to come, the potential conflicts but also the opportunities that may arise within this transition.
We will invite stakeholders from the fields of city planning, politics, real estate agencies as well as activits living and working in Wedding to grasp these developments.
