ENERGY HACK: Apps for the Energy of the Future

15. June 2013 @ 12:00 - 23:55

Free

Germany discusses the energy transition, sustainable energy supply and ways to reduce our energy consumption in the
future by using energy more efficiently.

With the Hackday “Energy hacks“, the Open Knowledge Foundation, Stromnetz Berlin
and Open Cities want to make a step in the right direction. We want to discuss which devices and applications could help
to use energy more efficiently, and how to make the abstract themes of energy supply and its infrastructure systems
understandable and more tangible. Specifically: we want to “hack” the energy transition, take it beyond theoretical
discussion and build tools for the future.

In countries such as the USA and Finland people have already taken up these themes and questions in hackdays and in app
contests. This resulted in exciting applications and tools for energy consumers. Now it is time for Germany to start
dealing with energy supply and consumption in a creative way. Therefore, “Energy hacks” wants to gather developers,
designers and experts in Berlin, to develop applications and tools for the energy of the future.
