Un-learning networked collaboration?

10. October 2016 @ 19:00 - 21:00

From socialized learning experiences to co-creation – collaboration is a profound part of our human experience. Today, workers are tied together by digital networks which enable new forms of collaboration. However the myopic focus in recent years on collaborating over the net has also, arguably, narrowed the definition of collaborative practice and possibly all but eliminated our ability to contrast and evaluate collaboration in inter-net-work and realspace-work. We have trapped collaboration in net-work and seem unable to release it. But what if collaborating outside the net is more productive? More immersive? More fun? More human?

In this conversation, we’ll tackle the question of whether or not better co-production requires unlearning what the net has taught us? – and what exactly is it that we need to un-learn? We also ask what the digital network has en- and dis – abled in contemporary collaborative practice.

Adam Hyde, Co-Founder at Collaborative Knowledge Foundation and inventor of the booksprint-methodology, will explain his approach towards collaborative production of products. Barbara Rühling from Book Sprints will speak about collaborative text production and Ela Kagel, co founder of Supermarkt Berlin, will share her experiences from running a collaborative space. Johnny West, founder of OpenOil, will talk about collaborative production of financial models in the extractive industries sector.
This informal conversation is for everyone who has an interest in various notions of collaboration and would like to share experiences and insights with other practitioners.
